2. Mediation Services
Not Legal Advice
Compass Mediation Group provides mediation services. We do not provide legal advice, legal representation, or therapy.
Our mediator facilitates negotiation and communication between parties. While our mediator, Alisa Kharis, holds a Juris Doctorate from Seattle University School of Law, practiced law for 16 years in Washington state courts before dedicating herself fully to mediation, holds Master Mediator certification from the International Mediation Association (IMA), and is a certified IRS Enrolled Agent, she is no longer a practicing attorney and does not act as an attorney for any party during the mediation process. Information provided during mediation or on this website is for educational and informational purposes only and should not be relied upon as legal advice.

We strongly recommend that all parties consult with their own independent attorneys for legal advice regarding their specific situations, and particularly before signing any mediation agreement.

Voluntary Participation
Mediation is a voluntary process. Either party may withdraw from mediation at any time. The mediator may also suspend or terminate mediation if, in the mediator's professional judgment, continuation would not be productive or appropriate.

No Guarantee of Outcome
We do not guarantee that mediation will result in a resolution or agreement. The outcome of mediation depends on the willingness and good faith of all parties involved.

Confidentiality in Mediation
Mediation sessions are confidential, subject to applicable state and federal mediation confidentiality laws. All parties participating in mediation will be required to sign a separate Agreement to Mediate that outlines the specific confidentiality obligations, scope of services, fees, and other terms governing the mediation process.

In the event of a conflict between these Terms of Service and a signed Agreement to Mediate, the Agreement to Mediate shall control.

Fees and Payment
Mediation fees, payment terms, cancellation policies, and refund policies are outlined in the Agreement to Mediate provided to clients before the commencement of mediation services. By engaging our services, you agree to the fee structure described in that agreement.
